Frequently Asked Questions
Your event states that it is for women in STEM. I am not a woman, but I support women in STEM, can I attend?
Our events are marked according to who they are suitable for, broadly our categories are:
- For all
- Women in STEM
- Women Students in STEM
- Employers in STEM.
Our events for employers in STEM are open to people of all gender identities who want to improve the inclusion, recruitment, and retention of women in STEM roles and STEM opportunities.
I am a man, can I access your events?
Equate Scotland provide some events which are open to all. These events will state clearly that all are welcome – we would encourage you to attend these. However, if the event is marked for Women or Women Students, and you are not a woman in STEM or a woman student in STEM, then this training or event is not likely to meet your needs.
Our events are designed and based on research of the specific challenges STEM women students and employees face in education and employment and aim to reduce those specific barriers. We have limited places for training available which we prioritise for those who are in our target group for training. If you do not meet the requirements and choose to attend, you will potentially be taking a place away from someone else.
If you do not meet the requirements to attend but are looking for employment or academic support please contact and we may be able to signpost you.
I am a trans woman, can I access your events?
Yes.
I am a non-binary person, can I access your events?
Our events are designed and based on research of the specific challenges women students and employees face in education and employment and aim to reduce those specific barriers. In some cases, non-binary people may also share similar needs for provision and support and so are welcome to access our events if they feel that the events would be useful to them. If you do not meet the requirements to attend but are looking for employment or academic support please contact and we may be able to signpost you.
