Career Clinics

The competing demands of everyday life can make it hard to take a step back and reflect on your career. If you find yourself in need of some career guidance, advice, or support, then our one-to-one career clinics are here for you.

They are usually around an hour in duration and give you time and space to work with our career coach on the topic you want to address.

Maybe you’re unsure of your career direction and are trying to figure out your next steps? Investigating returning to the workplace after a career break? Looking to develop your job seeking strategy? Getting ready for promotion? Working on your interview technique? Reviewing your CV? These are just a few examples – whatever your current situation and starting point, our career clinics can help you move forwards.

We are flexible in our approach to scheduling and appointments can be in person at our Edinburgh office, via video (Teams/Skype) or by telephone.

Career clinics are provided free of charge.

To be eligible you must:

  • Identify as a woman
  • Be living in Scotland, or be working for an employer based in Scotland
  • Be working in or looking to return to work in the STEM sector; hold or be working towards a qualification in a STEM subject; or wanting to enter the sector.

If you’re interested in arranging a career clinic appointment, please complete our quick and easy enquiry form, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible to arrange a date and time.

Students – as career clinic availability is limited, we ask that you first direct any enquiries to your university or college careers service. They will be able to provide in depth subject specific career advice. Following this, should you still require further support, please fill in the application form.

“I felt the adviser had made a superb effort to understand my situation and had helpful advice right from the outset.“

“The session was very useful: it helped me crystallize my idea.”

“So I started from a position where I felt judged, and that I wasn’t contributing anything. But after the session I got to thinking that I’ve done a lot that’s of value. I feel a bit more positive. It’s changed my mind set from ‘I haven’t done and I can’t do’ to ‘I have done things and I can do things. I can do anything I put my mind to’.”
