Equate Scotland is partnering with Code Division (@codedivision_uk) to deliver an 8-week training programme supporting women returners to reskill and upskill in Data Science. This course is funded by Skills Development Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government.
This SQA accredited course is designed to support women returners in their personal and professional development through building confidence, employability skills, and professional skills needed to re-enter the job market. Data skills are highly in-demand in the current job market so growing skills and experience in data will help make individuals highly employable.

Students will be supported in their learning through experienced tutors and assessors, industry experts, recruitment specialists. Personal development training will be provided by Equate on building confidence and resilience, communications skills, and employability skills.
Additional support will be available to ensure that all students have the resources and support needed to successfully undertake the course.
In December, before the course begins in the New Year, students will have 1-1 sessions to develop individual learning plans and exclusive access to extensive online learning materials to help students feel prepared before learning gets underway in January and February.
The course will be delivered over 8 weeks, it is designed to introduce students to data analysis and provide the essential skills needed to succeed in a variety of jobs and sectors or to progress onto further training. With the guidance of tutors, students will learn how to clean, manipulate, and visualise data using industry-standard business applications like Excel and Power BI as well as discussing key topics like data bias, security and data management. There will be a particular emphasis on how companies can better understand their climate-centred data in order to help them reach the Scottish Government’s goal of Net Zero by 2045.
To be eligible for this course you must:
- Identify as a woman
- Be aged 25 or over
- Be unemployed or underemployed for the past 6 months
- Have worked in the past
- Live in Scotland
