What is the Equate Student Festival?
Our annual Equate Student Network Conference & Awards brings together women studying STEM to celebrate your passion for your subject, connect with inspiring women professionals and enhance your career development.
As it is unlikely that we will be able to run face to face events early next year, we are moving online and changing the format slightly – we are hosting an online festival filled with events and workshops run by students or focused for students.
Who can host an event?
Anyone! We are very excited to hear proposals for events and workshops from individual students, STEM societies, institutions, companies and organisations.
How can I apply to host an event?
If you are interested in running an event at our online festival, simply fill in the short application form here.
I’ve never run an event before, how do I get started?
We have written a blog all about how to design an event for our conference. We are also be running training sessions on public speaking and how to run a successful online event, one on the 11 of Feb and one on the 25 Feb.
What kind of events are you looking for?
This online festival is for students, so the events should be aimed at women students in STEM. Events and workshops should support, empower, or otherwise benefit women students in STEM. Think about what they might want, need, or benefit from and what you can help them with. Ensure that what you are planning is deliverable online as all of the events are to be hosted online.
Is there a budget for these events?
Unfortunately, we do not have the budget to support organisers with their events. However, we will be supporting organisers in other ways – such as promoting events through our newsletter and social media channels and by running training sessions at the start of next year on public speaking and how to run a successful online event.
What happens once I’ve applied?
Once you have applied, we will read your application. If it is successful, we will upload your event to our student conference event page. After that, we will promote your event on our social media channels – but we also recommend that you promote it on your own channels as well.
