We realise that getting along with other people means finding common ground. However, we may fail to recognize opportunities in the workplace to negotiate for the support, resources and conditions we need to succeed.
This session will help you understand some of the tools that are needed for not just getting the outcome you want, but the outcome that satisfies all those involved. This workshop will help you to:
Think more broadly about negotiation as a way to solve problems in both formal and informal situations.
- Analyse ways you may be “getting in your own way” , as well as the barriers put in place by gender stereotypes and inequality in the workplace.
- Recognise opportunities to negotiate to get the support, resources and conditions you need
- Learn and practise simple techniques to improve your negotiation skills, such as mirroring words selectively or practicing tactical empathy
- Plan a strategy to negotiate in a way that works for you
This workshop is aimed at women who are currently studying or working in STEM.
