This event is open to all women & non-binary students in STEM subjects at Scottish Universities and Colleges.
Equate is delighted to be partnering with Opening up Photonics and the St Andrews’ Centre for Biophotonics for our Light & Lasers meetup.
Opening up Photonics is a platform supporting the Scottish photonics industry to discuss, challenge and address as a community, barriers faced by minority groups, with the aim of increasing accessibility, championing diversity, and ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for all.
Come along to find out more about opportunities in Photonics for women and non-binary STEM students (and grab a slice of pizza!).
Join us for:
- Introduction to Photonics industry
- Where to find opportunities within the industry
- Lived experience presentations and ‘a day in the life’ insight
- Ask us anything session
- Pizza and relaxed networking
Who are Opening Up Photonics?
Opening up Photonics is a platform supporting the Scottish photonics industry to discuss, challenge and address as a community, barriers faced by minority groups, with the aim of increasing accessibility, championing diversity, and ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for all. Opening up Photonics is a partnership between Photonics Scotland, Glasgow University, the Institute of Physics and KTN.
Who are The Centre of Biophotonics?
The Centre of Biophotonics at the University of St Andrews was established in 2019 with the mission of promoting interdisciplinary research and training at the interface between advanced optical imaging, photonics and biomedical sciences. The Centre integrates researchers across four schools (Physics and Astronomy, Medicine, Biology and Psychology and Neuroscience) and builds on existing strengths in the development and application of light based technologies to investigate biological process at molecular, cellular and tissue scales.
