Building Inclusive STEM Workplaces in Scotland
May 19 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

This special event brings together partners, employers and sector practitioners to reflect on the findings of our latest research ‘Gender Inclusion Practices in Scottish STEM Organisations’ (GIPSO). Some of the research findings highlight the gains made on inclusive workplace practices, on the other hand the research also shines a light on the persisting challenges, preventing further progress within Scotland’s STEM ecosystem.
About GIPSO’s Research
Drawing on the survey responses from organisations of all sizes across multiple Scottish STEM industries, the research reveals that, while many workplaces have introduced flexible working practices and EDI policies, these initiatives are often not integrated within organisational practices or culture.
Additional findings of the GIPSO report indicate:
- Significant gaps in monitoring and communicating EDI progress
- There are different sets of challenges faced by small and micro businesses in implementing inclusive practices
- Ongoing issues around reporting discrimination, as well as supporting gendered health needs in the workplace
