Equate Scotland at the STUC Women’s Conference 2025

STUC Women Conference 2025

This week, Equate Scotland was proud to exhibit at the Scottish Trade Union Congress (STUC) Women’s Conference 2025 — an inspiring and energising space amplifying women’s voices, solidarity, and action across Scotland’s workplaces.

From the opening sessions, we’ve heard powerful contributions on:

  • Closing the gender pay gap

  • Addressing the ethnicity pay gap for Black women

  • Promoting psychological safety across workplaces

  • Continuing the legacy of the Sex Discrimination Act on its 50th anniversary

  • Highlighting the gender gap for neurodiverse women in employment

  • Countering misogyny and far-right influence

We were especially inspired by Kadi Johnson and Sarah Krasewitz, who shared their journeys and commitment to building an inclusive women’s community.

It was also a proud moment to see our very own Linda Somerville, former Director of Equate Scotland and now Deputy General Secretary of the STUC, addressing the conference and stopping by our stand to show her support. Her continued leadership in driving equality and fairness is a true inspiration to all of us at Equate.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to hear more powerful voices and discussions in the upcoming sessions on:

  • Enhanced maternity pay and parental leave

  • Reasonable adjustments for breastfeeding

  • Addressing prejudice-based violence through intersectional solidarity

  • Ending sexual harassment

It’s been incredible to see the collective work of Trade Unions and organisations from across Scotland — all advocating, progressing, and supporting women in workplaces.

Together, we continue to build a fairer, more inclusive future for all women. 💜
